About DevFeeFinder

DevFeeFinder shows what a new home pays in one-time government fees, in 63 California cities and counties, and when in the building process each fee is due. It runs on the Development Fee Index, a dataset in which every amount is copied from the document that set it and linked to that document.

Why it exists

Development fees are public but scattered. A city publishes one schedule, the school district another, the water and sewer districts theirs, and a regional transportation agency a fourth. 36% of the fees here — 378 of 1,064 — come from an agency other than the city or county, and none of those appear on the city schedule a builder reads first. Nobody publishes the total. This does.

What it does not do

It doesn't subtract credits or waivers, add yearly special taxes to one-time fees, or paraphrase a document. Details on the Methodology page.

How current it is

Built 25 Sep 2026 from 1,321 fees and 4,651 currently adopted rates. Every figure shows the date it was read and links the document behind it. Fees change; check the date, then the document.
